Querying, Querying, Querying…

Hello, it’s been a while! I’m deep in query trenches with HALLOWED BE THY NAME, and it’s been…an experience. There have been some highs (getting full requests) and lows (rejections).

Currently, I have:

• 10 rejections

• 2 full requests

• 20+ unanswered queries

Fingers crossed I acquire an agent soon! I’m giving myself to the end of the year before I seriously look into self-publishing. I’ve done some research and have an editor lined up, but I still have a long way to go in terms of understanding formatting and cover dimensions.

If you follow me on Instagram (@b.rookishthings), you’ve probably already seen me talking about it but I’m currently working on two separate writing projects!

1) A Death x Life Sapphic Horror short story

“I don’t have a gift for you,” Death frowned.

Life leaned closer, crawling into Death’s lap as her arms snaked around her neck. “You are my gift.”

“You always used to say I was your problem.”

“You still are,” Life mused, lips brushing against the soft skin between Death’s ear and jawline, “but you are my problem. All mine.”

2) Seven Deadly Sins YA Fantasy

“You are sins,” Gabriel said, “there is no place for sin in Heaven. You must become virtues.”

Pride folded his arms over his chest, eyeing the Archangel with nothing but disdain. “And how do we do that?”

“You attend the School of Sin, you pass all your classes, and you successfully complete your final project.”

“What’s the final project?” Envy asked.

“Convert a sinner,” Gabriel answered, “only then will you transform and be granted entry into Heaven.”

I also have a dark academia psychological thriller and a dystopian fantasy I want to work on soon but I haven’t made any progress yet.
